Things looking good for the mortgage industry. But remember, the trees never grow to the sky.
This has easily been the best year in many for an industry coming out of perhaps its worst downcycle ever. It’s great to see lenders and brokers making money and doing business again.
Of course, that only means it’s time to plan ahead. As the old saying goes, “trees don’t grow to the sky.” There is a limit to this rebound. And for some, that means that the time to sell the business is near at hand.
There was once a time when liquidity was easy to realize for a lender. That’s not the case anymore, but it may be again soon. The time to start preparing to sell is yesterday. I spend a lot of time with clients discussing the things that need to be done to perfume the business before putting it on the market. Stay tuned–I’ll be sharing some of these tips here soon.
